Typographers’ Book: Ghambattista Bodoni
Date: December 2020
Course: Typography 101
Instructor: Min Choi
Industry: Design
Overview: This dynamic, 8-pages accordion style showcases the typeface Bodoni, created by Italian printer Giambattista Bodoni in the 18th century. This book tells the biography of the late typographer and highlights the details of his typeface with quotes, alphabets, and numbers.
Solution: Since elegance, class, and tradition are often associated with serif fonts, this book uses black and gold to further emphasize the beauty of Bodoni. City skyline motif then puts a twist on its traditional association and echoes its ‘modern’ reputation at the time. Shapes are made in Adobe Illustrator and later assembled using Adobe InDesign.
